Not sure about the bounce you'll get but I was pondering a pair of air shocks so I could level the rear end when I tow my future boat.

Not sure how well the air shocks would handle off road though

ive pulled another 92 ram a good 3 hours in the mountains on a heavy car trailer made for a medium size dumptruck or a heavy 3500. (mines a 1500) it all depends on the trailer. if yo have dual wheels it should be fine. just make sure you load it right and maybe do what i did and spend the money for a trailer brake controler.

True about the brake controller. Pulling it isnt the problem. Its stopping the load in an emergency and going up and down hills. The brake controller is a god-send. That and a class 3 frame hitch. Never trusted the bumper mounts too much. Dont forget about the recall on factory hitches. They need a brace from the dealer.

Thanks guys, keep the info comin'!! My truck has the frame mounted tow package and the trailer brake( is that a factory option) , the trailer has tandem axles and four brakes. What is the recall ? Do I need to worry about that, or is that for bumper mounted hitches? Mine is a '00 Sport 4x4 1500

Hitch recall: http://dodgeram.info/tsb/recalls/872.htm

It's for receiver hitches.

The harness for the brake controller came with the factory towing package, but I do not believe a brake controller was available.

Sounds like you doing pretty good here, make sure you load your heavy'er items closer to the trailors axles, that will help keep it level and should pull the back of your truck down to badly. Having brakes on the trailor is a must with one that big. Be sure when you hit the step grades to take it out of overdrive, will lug it down way to much.

I tow regularly a 18Ft double frame titan car trailer, motor does just fine with plenty of power to pull it, but depending on heavy a car I put on it, really sags the back of the truck if I cant get it loaded evenly.

Good luck and have a safe trip!

I Have 1999 ram with the 360 auto and I bought 29ft' travel trailer and it pulls it great. I do have the brake controller in it. The only thing you have to do is service your trans. More often when pulling heavy loads .Before I bought my pickup I checked to see what it can pull, and found out that with my 1500 4x4 I could pull up to 7300lbs. And if you had a 2wd you could pull 8000lbs

Seriously, I think all you guys are scared. Dude, if your moving furniture, there really is no weight there. You should be able to pull a 24 footer with no problem. For that matter, I had a 99 dakota 4x4 club cab with the 5.2 and auto, and I used to pull a 30' party boat, 26' camper, 24' Baja, actually I would try to pull anything someone threw at me. The best was the day I went to Home Depot and bought a full 2000lbs of wood pellets for the stove and told them to throw it in the bed. The look on the guys face was priceless.
Not scared, try being safe and not wanting to kill someone else or ourselves because of not knowing the limits of our trucks. More then half the accidents caused by trucks pulling(weather big trucks or pickups) are caused by user trying to get that extra on it just so he dont have to make the extra trip or get a bigger truck. Just because your truck will hold or pull the load, doesnt mean it is safe.

So I myself am happy he asked, he wants to be safe and not tear up his truck.

I pulled a 5000 lb wood chipper that has has a 300 6 cyl ford engine on it. I pulled it with my 97 1/2 ton, didnt have any problems, but then the furthest I pulled it was maybe 10 miles.
