Default Tires and Wheels

I was Wondering if anybody had some good suggestions on wheel and tire sizes im thinkin bout 18 inch wheels with 35" or 33" tires but i dont want to have the wheels sticking out the side to far i just cant so to find any mud tires that will last on paved road and still work good off-road!!! I have a dodge 1500 4x4 5.9L and a 3 inch lift and will 4.10 gears be enough to turn the 35's?

I'd go with 16" wheels with BFG Mud Terrains mounted on them. I'd probably go with 33"s if you only have a 3" lift. Thats what I have with 33"s and they rub when your at full lock and hit a bump. It's partially because of the width of my wheels but I think 35"s would rub on most wheels. Mine stick out the side some so I wouldn't go with a 10" wide wheel but I don't know what backspacing to tell you to go with.

18" rims and 35" tires, even on a truck with a 3" lift might be pushing it. Stock and 35" will work. 18" and 33" will also work. Your gears will be good for the 33s, and useable for the 35s. But if you go with larger rims, you might want to think about changing to 4.56s. That will impact your gas mileage negatively, but so will going to 35" tires.

For tires, I would go with BF Goodrich All-Terrains or Firestone/Bridgstone Dueler ATs. Don't get the Mud Terrains (or any MT tire). They're not very good on pavement (loud), and they wear EXTREMELY fast when driving on the road.

The Mud Terrains last a pretty long time on the road I have heard the AT's don't last much longer. Most people seem to get 40k+ out of the MT's. The big thing I don't like about the AT's other than them looking stupid on a lifted truck is they suck in the mud. The BFG MT's are a much better choice if you go in the mud at all. If going with a AT I'd look into Kelly Safari MSR's or Bridgestone Revo's they seem to be a lot better than the BFG when it comes to AT's.

I have a question about my tires as well. When I bought my truck the salesmen said whenever turning sharply I would hear the tires rub but it would cause no damage. I have stock rims and 33 tires I believe he said. Does this really do no damage and just makes noise or is it slowly harming something over time?

It may wear the tires out slightly faster or ruff up the plastic if thats where its rubbing if it rubs on the control arm it may make a spot on it where you can see where it has rubbed and wear the tires in that spot but not too much damage.

Turn it back some when you hear it rub. Thats the safe way. I believe it'd only rub on the plastic wheel well though. The BFG all terrians are awesome on and off road as long as its not sticky mud. They dont clean out quick like mud terrians. The ATs will get you 60,000 on the road though. Thats waaaay longer than any mud tire and most AT tires.
