Default Metal ring found in trans pan 46re

Dropped the trans pan on my 98 ram 46re trans. Found half of a ring that looks like it should be about 5" round if it wasn't broken. Any help would be appreciated. Should I start looking for a new trans? Syptom is a small slip going into 3rd when cold, when warm it shifts perfect...

That looks like the OD wavy snap ring. Needs to be repaired right, away before you tear up the OD.
Sorry - but the transmission needs to come out.

Default Thanx

Thanx for the info... I was afraid of that. Do you think the trans will be ok if repaired? Still shifting ok. No metal filings in the fluid as of now.. Would like to save it

If you get it repaired right away (as in as few miles as is reasonably possible) it may be ok.
