power steering box leak

Default power steering box leak

Hi; has anyone ever changed the shaft seal on a ram power steering box?Mine is leaking just above the pitman arm.I had it fixed about a year and a half ago,when it was under warrantee now is dripping again.[:@]

I fixed mine, its not to hard. Get a Haynes or I can give you a rough idea.

Pull that nut off, then pull the pitman arm down off the steering box. Theres a snap ring in there, pull that out. Then with that out put a pan under the steering box. Turn the car on and turn the wheel to one of the locks, give it a little preasure and the seal should pop out and spluge ATF all over. After it stops dripping push the new seal up there, make sure it goes in straight! Put the snap rihg back in. Put the pit man arm back on, and tighten the nut. Good as new!

No problem. Like I said thats just a rough idea but if I you got a Haynes or something I'm sure they'll have pictures in it which will help

well I changed the seal today,not to bad of a job. so far no leaks!!!!
