Exclamation Tried having a remote programmed...

99 SLT Laramie. Bought it at an auction. A pretty clean truck that hasn't been hacked-up. Anyways in the last few months that I've owned it, the alarm has gone off on me twice now when I unlock with the key. Truck won't start while the alarm sounds. Although I can turn it off while using the key in the door again. Truck then starts and runs fine.

So i took it to an automotive locksmith to have them program a remote to it for me. They couldn't get it to program with their equipment. They tried two different remotes. Their equipment didn't give a specific reason as to why it failed, but that programming failed. I'm a diesel technician professionally so I'm very experienced with electrical diagnostics and have a good set of troubleshooting skills. The only reason I took the truck to the locksmith was because I couldn't locate ANY aftermarket security system underneath the virgin dash, and saw some information elsewhere that these trucks WERE equipped with keyless entry.

If anyone could point me in the direction opposite of the dealership, that'd be great. Should I try swapping out the BCM? Would the truck be rendered immovable if I were to swap the BCM out?

EDIT:

Got my hands on some wiring schematics through the service manual thanks to this forum. Totally just realized that I haven't seen the "security" light flash since the purchase of the vehicle. I'll post my findings tomorrow.
