Default 1999 Control Arms

I'm a cable technician that works out of 99 1500 with the 5.9, 2wd. I'm tired of replacing entire control arms when ball joints fail. This will be the third time in 10 years.

I noticed control arms for 00-01 look like the same dimensions but have bolt on balljoints instead of pressed. I want to buy a set and slap them on my truck, but I'm not sure if it's possible. Has anyone here done this, or tried it and realized it doesn't work?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

You can drive or press the ball joints out and new ones in. You don't have to buy a complete control arm.

I had to weld 2 inches of metal on the ball joints to hold them in place last time I changed them. I'm not grinding them out and rewelding new ones.
