Default 2nd generation front 4x4 axle swap to 3rd gen?

Hopefully there's a quick and easy answer for this. I have a 97 Ram 2500 4x4 and a front axle out of a 2004 (3rd gen) Ram 2500 4x4 I would like to use. Will the 04 Front axle bolt in the 97 frame? If not then can it be modified to work? And if so what needs to be modified?

I am assuming it would as I think they are both control arm setups. I don't know why you would want an AAM axle instead of a Dana

I think the control arm bolts are larger on the 2004 then the 97. This means you will need to swap out the 4 control arms too. Might need to ream the frame side control arm bracket bolt holes open. Also, look into the drive shaft u-joint size at the axle. to make sure your existing driveshaft will work. A conversion u joint can be used if they are different.Other then that it should be a bolt in affair. I think the 2004 axle is aam 9.25, so it wont have the CAD set up on the axle. Which means the front end components will be spinning all the time make gas mileage a little worse.
