Default Oil Pressure sending unit replacement.

I recently replaced the sending unit in my 1998 5.2L. It wasn’t a MOPAR part, and when I hooked it back up, nothing happened. The gauge was stuck on zero, with plenty of oil in the truck. I heard something from a local shop about using a actual MOPAR part to fix the issue. Is this something that happens?

I have installed aftermarket oil pressure senders on my V10 with differing results. One sender was pretty poor and the next worked fine. If you can obtain an oem sender that would be the best way to go. If you can't hear your lifters clatter, you should be fine.

I was having issues with my oil pressure gauge dropping off every time I came to a stop, very annoying. I bought one off rock auto and I think it was the only one they offered and it fixed my problem and otherwise appears to be working fine. I also have a 98 5.2.

Just wanted to update this thread. After finding a MOPAR unit from rockauto that matches my VIN with the Part number, the gauge problem is no more. Just drove it around, would say upon starting it would read well over 40 then settled down to around 35.
