I made a post last night about injector part numbers so you know where my mind is at. My truck, 2001 ram 5.9 v8, has had a rough idle since I bought it. I did I fill tune up and replaced all sensors on tb and o2 sensors, I put a cai on it because 50$ In Amazon is a steal and I still have a rough idle. I’m down to “is it an injector that has a bad pulse at idle” or “is the distributor dying after 17 years and 190k” I have a distributor brand new for free So I’m going to try that what’s the worst that could happen but what do you guys think? Just to cover all bases I’ve regaped the plugs many times no change.
A new distributor or a new distributor cap??? Certainly replace the cap and rotor and add a new good quality set of plug wires. I've seen lot of bad plug wires and I'm surprised that a lot of people don't replace them more often. The coil should be okay if it runs well when you put your foot into it. I like the idea of injectors when all else has failed. Do a compression test. 190K is prime for valves/valve seat issues on any engine.
