mod ideas?
hey folks, i am new to the forums as if you couldnt tell, heheh. i currently own a 94 dodge ram 1500 with the 318. she is all black with chrome trim, no mods of any sort other than heavy duty springs installed by last owner. I currently get alot of compliments from fellow dodge lovers on the road, however i am looking for a new "look" if ya know what i mean? i dont want a slammed ride, and i dont want a ride jacked up thru the roof although a moderate lift may be appealing! I would be intrested in hearing some ideas from you all about what steps i should take. currently i would like to have all these done, and please please add on some things!
:new paint, black
: new tires and rims- no idea what kind yet
:get rid of the old aluminum tool box
: get rid of bed rails
:add a possible bull bar to front
: add a possible roll bar
again please add some of your worthy mods to the list, and anyone that may know of some great engine mod's please let me know of these too. thanks
chris

welcome to DF!
I would skip the roll bar and the bull bar and go for an intake and exhaust kits... actually, 1st i'd look at your plenum gasket and see if it's leaking... if it is then that should be the 1st fix/mod you do. you will get better performance from sealed plenum since there would be no internal vacuum leak... then add a big tranny cooler and bypass the in tank one. better to have known problems delt with 1st.
Post some pics of your ride so we can have a look [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

best thing to do on the plenum is get a Hughs or APS Precision kit. it comes with the gasket and everything you need. the problem is the plenum is steel and the intake is aluminum. both expanding and contracting at different rates. this is what tears the gasket. the kit has an aluminum plate plus the gaskets & bolts.
the swap is pretty easy, there a DIY forum that has a lot of info that is useful. if you DL the link in the Merry Christmas thread, you should have everything you need to do it yourself.
also here's the TSB on it. http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2000/09-05-00.htm

thanks again steve, doesn't look to bad at all, i am thinkin i am gonna have to give this a shot! also while im under the hood, i found a air intake kit from K&N, what do you think of those? are they worth the money? and i am looking for a porgrammer or a hyper chip for my truck but dont seem to find any that will fit a 94 dodge with the 5.2L V8. have you heard of anyone purchasing those for a 94? i hear so many good things from other truck owners who have had them installed.
thanks again, chris
