I have a 2001dodge ram 1500 with a 3.9 2wd and 5 speed manual transmission. It is jammed into 2nd gear and wont come out. I am going to replace tranny with used one from the u pull it due to finances and all i can find in a 5 speed is a 03 i know the bolt pattern on the bell housing is different but if i keep my bell housing and flywheel and torq converter can i use the back half of the 03? I dont need criticism for going used, its do or die time and i only pd 600 for the truck anyway.

 

Where are you located? Are there no manual transmission repair guys in your area that can repair your transmission on the side? Sounds like it may have lost a bearing, which might be an easy repair.

 

You don't have a removable bell housing. Your transmission is all one piece made out of aluminum. So no you can't

 

Im in houston and im broke as hell and neex truck for work and my tran. Is 2 peices bolted together.

 

If memory serves me you should have the NV3500 which is a one piece. If the bell housing is removable then I don't see why you couldn't as long as they are the same length. If they aren't the same length you will need a custom driveshaft (s) and that will be more then just rebuilding your current one
