no start
i am looking at a 95 ram 1500 5spd 318cid that a friend is trying to get rid of. as of now, the truck is a no start. i have checked and the block is not ceased, but i couldnt get the starter to engage (granted i didnt have a very good battery connection)
i am going to go out to look at the truck again next week and wanted to get some advice on what things to check for if i do manage to get it to turn. my friend says that it just up and quit on him at a stoplight, and that afterward it would crank and crank, but not fire. not even cough and sputter.
im thinking bad coil? broken roll pin? clogged fuel filter or bad pump? any advice helps.
also, do you think it would be worth $500 not running and jus tow it home and figure it out? what do used 318's bring in nowadays? its in pretty nice shape, 240k miles "all highway"

1. Check from spark at plugs. If no spark check for spark from coil.
2. Check for fuel presure. Check the Fuel Pump Relay too, pull the horn relay or something for a quick check.
3. Pull out the O2 sensor BEFORE the cat, see of it'll start then. If the cats cloged usually that little hole where the O2 goes is just enough to get the truck running.
3. Compression test, 240k is alot...
4. Crank and Cam sensors
