Default 33X12.50 BFG A/T

I just bought a 94 ram 1500,4X4 p/u a few months and the guy who owned it put 15" chrome wheels on it. I had cooper discovery 265/75/15 put on about 2 months ago and they just don't look good on the truck and suck in the snow. i want to go with the BF Goodrich 33X12.50 15 but not sure will fit on stock height. With the 265/75 on right now I still have a bunch of room though. What lift height would i need to fit that size tire on the truck and would I go with a body or suspension lift? thx

Well, this is a rather interesting topic. Some people rave 33's are possible and cliam they don't rub without a lift. But the concensus around here (and I agree with it) is that to fit 33's you WILL need a 3" lift.

Suspension lifts are much better then body. But also more expensive. I put a 3" body lift on mine for under $100, but I did it myself also.

So if your really low on funds, body lifts are cheap but have some drawbacks.

On mine I put a brushguard on. But the guard mounts to the frame, and the body is 3" higher then it normally is...so I had to cut the brackets, make them 3" shorter and weld then. Another common problem is duel exhause (or any exhaust for that matter! ) The duals were put on my truck and adjusted to sit like 1/2 below my bumper. The exhause is also mounted to the frame...so I could raise the bumper with the brackets, but my exhause would stay in the same place...more or less looking retarted.

So body lifts are cheap and cause some problems, but also keep in mind Anything is possible! Like the brushguard, I made that work, and if I really wanted to I could make the exhaust tips go up with my bumper but it just takes more time and energy.

You can get 2" leveling kits for the front and that may give you the clearance you would need. I tried a set of 33 x 12.50 on my truck and they rubbed the front fender liners at full turn and the suspension flexed but it is a completely stock suspension. I would say a 2" suspension lift would be enough if you decide to skip the leveling kit. There is no clearance issue on the rear.

They might look great, but I think you will find they might really suck in the snow. Depending on where you live (we get several feet a year where I live up in the mountains) and the amount of snow you receive, you might be in a world of hurt w/ tires that wide.
