I am getting ready pull my oil pn and I was reading through my haynes manual and was curios if it is realy necessary to lift the motor.

If I do have to lift the motor does it have to be ligted by a hoist or is there somewhere I can lift at with a jack.

hard to say until you get into it... I think on the 4x4's the answer is no.

edit: I just read part of the tech article... yes you will have to lift the motor 3~4"...

Haven't looked yet, but couldn't you lift the whole front of the truck, and then let the suspension droop to get the needed clearance? That's what I do on my Jeeps and they have the same style control arm suspension. Oh wait there may be a cross-member under the pan.

There is a crossmember under the pan. I haven't realy gotten under there and taken a real good look though. I will probubly just get under there and take the pan bolts out and see what is absolutely necessary to do. I will let ya'll know how it goes.
