Going from manual windows, locks, Mirrors & seats to all electric!
So I looked on ALOT of forums for this kinda information and found a lot of bad information or only partial information...
Ok my truck is a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 single cab cummins dually
I removed this wiring harness & power doors from a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 single cab Laramie gas truck
They are all the same harness for the single cabs with power doors and I’m very sure for the quad cabs just a little longer
Let’s start with the doors “windows, locks, mirrors” I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins with 100% all manual everything. If you are wanting to go this route I HIGHLY sagest buying a donor truck with all electric doors. I have seen people say you can just plug and play and I have found this not to be true. Let’s start with what you will need. The main wiring harness for this stuff (this harness also powers the seats but we will get to that) will have 2 white plugs for the passenger & 2 white plugs for the driver door. It will start at the passenger side, at this point you will have to slide the dash back and remove the top section of the dash to remove this harness “it’s not that bad you will just need patience and be carful with it” it will run up over the top of the dash and back down the driver side. You will find a plug just under the big plug for the steering column, just unplug it and there will be a flat square mount to the cab with 4-5 ground wires just remove that 1 bolt. It then continues under the kick panel to the driver side rear B post and up the B post then across the roof to the passenger side B post down to that speaker. There will be about 10-12 plugs all together for the whole harness. I know it’s a lot but it pays to do it right the first time and it’ll be 100% factory. Then just install it into your truck with the same process.
Now for the seats. This one can get you, because my manual harness had no plug at all for a seat. My donor truck was a Laramie but manual seats with a small plug just taped to the harness just under the kick Panel. This plug did not fit my Laramie leather seats that I got but not to worry the harness had the only 3 wires you will need (Black/green “ground”, green/brown “seatbelt”, and red/blue “main Power”). So what I did was I went back to the truck I removed the leather Laramie seats from and found that plug I then pulled about 3 FT of those 3 wires out and cut them off from that trucks harness. I thin found those exact same 3 wires in my harness and spliced them in and it all worked. all switches on the seat and the seatbelt light went off as soon as I put my seatbelt in.
P.S you will need the 2 silver circuit brakers from the fuse block on the side of the dash you can’t miss them there is only 2.
I hope this helps for anyone that is wanting to do it! I am doing cruise control next and I’ll do a wright up on it as well when I’m finished
