Yeah, I think that's the better and easier option. Rather than doing a 4x4 conversion as well as replacing body big body components. And also I think I could add power without compromising reliability too much using the cummings

That right there is funny. The Cummins is known for lift pump failure, rod bearings failing, piston damage, and turbo issues. Cummins is only good if you tow 24/7. Heck I pull 15K and still tow it with my 360. Just know that maintenance and parts are about double what a gasser is

Lift pump failures are mainly on the vp44 trucks but there are plenty of upgrades available. The rod bearings, pistons and turbo are all very reliable and will go 500K - 1 million miles if maintained and not overheated.

Not true and the p pump is known for problems. The rod bearing fail around 180K along with the pistons. The turbo is known for exploding

The turbo only failes when you try to get more boost out of it than it was designed for, the rod bearings and pistons will last 4 times that long, the p pumps don't have many problems at all generally. It sounds like you have had a bad experience with Cummins so your giving out false info to make yourself feel better.

I've always heard that the cummins was a "million mile motor". That they were super reliable , and as long as you stay on top of service intervals and maintenance you'd be fine. I've also heard that it was a really de-rated engine, and that you could get a decent amount of power out of them, it just decreases the life expectancy of them .

They are the most reliable diesel ever put in a pickup truck, you can easily get 400 HP out of them and not sacrifice reliability if done right.
