Default Need help with my 1996 Ram 1500 5.9L

Ok so I decided to play with my truck in the water ikr not a good idea now the starter had went bad so I replaced it and tried starting my truck now when I started it it began to backfire and spit and sputter and shut off And it would do the same thing over and over so I decided to set it TDC and check the distributor like the old school method and it said that it was 180degress but idk how accturate it is is there any chance it could just be a bad coil or sensor ? Please let me know if you have any questions text my number please 404-423-4401

Unless you hydrolocked your engine, the timing shouldn't have been off. You might have had moisture in the cap. Be sure to drain the lubricant in the differentials.

The coil is pretty low, it could have gotten wet. Did you move the distributor?
