Yeah, but dry bushings are dry bushing.... That, and the various levers still need to pivot. Cleaning things up certainly won't hurt anything.
And it didn't hurt ... I sprayed the linkage 3 times with lubricating oil and now I can shift into 4wd smoothly. I'm still not sure if it is going in all the way, so with that said, I may need an adjustment, but what a difference. The 4wd indicator light goes on and I can easily shift into 4wd. I just feel that the shifter has been farther back in the past, so I'll need to check out if the linkage needs adjusting or maybe the bushings may be a bit worn out, but spraying the linkage down with lubricating oil did do the trick and made shifting into 4wd possible.
