Default new-used truck first ignition tune-up

I just finished installing new plug wires on the Ram this afternoon and am pretty happy with the results. I used autolite professional series wires because they were on sale and I was happy with the heat shields and 7mm. I thought it might be a tough job but once I got going it wasn't bad at all. The hardest part of the job was pulling the old wires lose. I don't think they had been changed for quite a long time. I struggled with the clips a bit until I lightly pressed on the bottom tab and they opened right up. The clips near the back were a little different and pulled apart by pressing to one side. I was concered about the routing of the wires so I used a "fishing" technique where I just followed the old wire with the new wire starting at the plug and ending up at the cap. It seemed to work well. The cap was extremely worn, but I didn't have time to pull it off so I will have to replace the cap, rotor, and the plugs next weekend.

Started the truck up, drove it around and everything seems to have gone well. The only question I have is that there was a slight burnt rubber smell coming from the engine compartment after I drove it. I checked the routing and all the wires seemed to clear the manifold. any ideas wht it might be?

i wouldnt bee worried about the smell..well not right now... if it keeps on going and you start getting hesitation or crappy perfomance then yea.. but now im sure its just the factory coating getting warmed up to the under hood temp... brand new wires will do that.. i havnt ever ever ever seen spark plug wires actually start melting... even if they were resting on the vavlecover and or the intake man.
