Default P0740

Hi guys, its been a while, almost 3 years no issues but here i am again.
Threw a P0740 code last week, i have no shifting issues or problems going into OD, in fact it shifts wonderful since i re-geared it.
i cleared the code and it came back like 3 days later. Came on last week after going over a bump on a side road and today it came on right after it shifted into overdrive.

I'm stumped why this thing is angry and its shifting fine....ugh
fluid is nice and pink and full too...
where should i start.

P0740 Torque Converter Clutch, No RPM Drop @ Lockup

The issue is in the lock up not shifting.

there is rpm drop at lock up though, thats whats irritating. Its not shifting any different then it normally does.

well I may have figured it out. Looks like I’ve been a leaking a tiny bit of tranny fluid near the torque converter.

turns out I was down a quart, I hate reading the dip stick I swear it was full a few weeks ago when I checked in neutral. Put some liquid gasket near the seal and filled it back up. See if it’s still pissed off

I don't think that will work as the torque converter spins. Might have to replace the seal

This is where it was leaking, maybe not torque converter

That's the inspection plate. The only thing that can leak behind that is the torque converter seal or a cracked transmission case

I highly doubt it's a cracked case. The torque converter seal does require removal of the engine or transmission to get to it. The seal is probably only like $6

right, and that sounds like one hell of a job. I need to check on my break to see if my patch job held. I didn’t see any leaks after being parked. Obviously it shifted nicer having that extra quart. Really just didn’t expect a seal to go out on a 5 year old transmission, piece of crap.
