Default Plug behind berliner?

I pulled back the bed liner on my 2001 ram and found a plug and a fuse on the left side ahead of the tail light? Is this a possible spot for a reverse light?

Why do you need a spot for a reverse light?

That plug is for the brake light on a truck cap.
