Default Need advice for interior swap - 01 power into a 99 non power

Hello
This is my first of many posts here. I have looked for this information all over and can't seem to get any straight answers so hopefully this is the right place to post this.

I just bought a 99 1500 laramie and the dash was total junk as expected but the truck is clean and rust free. This truck has cloth manual seats but electric everything else. (heated electric mirrors, and locks)

I have a donor truck that is an 01 1500 laramie and it has full power and heated leather seats and electric everything. I was going to take the dash pad and bezel because they are crack free and I want the wood grain interior, as well as the power leather seats. The problem is I am not sure how I can wire these up... The wire plug under the manual seats do not have the extra wires that the power seats have so I know it will not plug and play. Can I use the whole fuse panel harness from under the dash and swap the entire dash frame and all from the donor truck into the 99? Would this newer harness from the 01 plug and play with my 99?

OR would it be smarter to trace the wiring and splice everything in? I have a service manual and both trucks are complete so I can take everything I might need. Just not sure of the best way to get everything working.

Any advice or even a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Wiring will not work as the 01 is different and can even have a different computer system. Not what you can do (which is work) is use just the harness that runs on the floor. It should unplug from the back of the fuse box.

Thanks for the quick reply... I thought they were different..

So what you're saying is to just take the harness that runs from the seat to the underdash fuse box? That would plug and play with my truck? Or would I still have to splice in the right wires for the power seats?

Also if I swap my fusebox and wiring into the new dash, can I still just install the new dash as one piece and just use the donor trucks cluster, etc?

It would make this easier because I currently have both dash frames removed and don't want to risk cracking the dash pad or faceplates trying to disassemble it, but I'm willing to do the work if need be to make sure this is done correctly. I can live without the heated seats for now as long as I can get the power working for the seat adjustment.

Thanks again for the info!

Take the harness for the seats and it will plug into your fuse box. Using the cluster might work as hallway through 01 computer systems changed. I don't know the exact date though. The problem is the pinouts. I would use the 01 dash with your dash harness and cluster.

I will give it a shot tomorrow and see how it goes. The cluster is simple to change as long as I don't crack the bezel getting to it, lol. It's been raining all day today so I decided to put it off. Will post back when it's done with the results. Thanks!

May I ask why you want to use the 01 cluster? Was raining here too, it stopped but the wind is bad

I didn't have any specific reason for using the 01 cluster, I was just looking to avoid taking the dash apart for fear of cracking the brittle plastic... It's the original dash and there's not a crack anywhere and I really want to keep it that way lol. I did manage to get the bezel off without breaking any clips so the cluster won't be an issue now. I will say, changing the dash plastic is much easier by pulling the whole dash out... I've done one with the dash in the truck, just tipped forward and after this I think I will always do it this way.

Supposed to be a bit chilly but at least dry tomorrow so hopefully I can get the dash and seats in and all back together. Quite windy here as well, call for 55mph + winds tonight.

These dashes have a kind of their own lol. My 96 dash is original with no cracks. Just exercise caution and you should be fine. White gloves might help
