Wow! thank you so much! I had the hardest time figuring out where to look to find this info. 7,000 seemed way low and even when I compared it to other trucks 10,000 was seeming low. This makes me feel much more confident that this truck is a pretty good option. I am still debating if doing the redneck dually addon makes sense or not. I think that adding a bit more weight of the wheels to the truck and the wider traction zone on the back wheels might help with some sway situations I could run into. But then does adding any more weight to the situation make any sense? But then I would probably need two different sets of back rims and wheels? I will probably need to put pen to paper to try and figure out what makes sense on that front.
Through '95 towing capacity for every possible cab/length/engine combo was part of your service manual. After that, still appears in abbreviated form in the Owner's manual.
This is part of an '01
Your legal tow rating and the manufacturers tow rating are two different things. In many cases you can be towing over the manufacturers rating and still be 100% legal, and their are other situations that you can be within the manufacturers ratings and be illegal. It all depends on the State you live in and what you are towing. The DOT doesn't know or care what the vehicles tow rating is, they go by your axle weights and if your over 26,000lbs you need a CDL in most cases unless it is an RV or for Farm use.
well i went for it! There were a couple extra things wrong with the truck but nothing I can't fix myself. talked him down to 5 grand which I figured he was gonna go to any way. What do yall think is 5,000 a good price for the truck?
