I recently replaced my entire brake system, and I had no idea about the ABS being specially bled/activated. I bench bled the M/C, installed, and bled as normal. I recently had to take evasive action, slammed the brakes, and my ABS functioned properly. The pedal pulsated.

You hit the brakes hard enough for the ABS to kick in. Then you rebleed the system when you get home. It pushes the air out of the antilock brake controller
