Default Dies after starting (sometimes)

Sometimes when starting the truck (96 1500 5.2 auto 4x4) as soon as it starts (in 1-2 seconds) it wants to die, or almost die. If I feather the gas for a few seconds before it dies it will keep running, and then it runs fine. And if you come to a stop when driving it, it acts just fine. It just happens when starting. New fuel pump just a couple years ago. Isn't my daily driver. Any ideas?

Good question. Five-plus years? I'll have to check. Good point! And it has been getting chilly out here lately. Might be time for a new one. Would be nice if it were that simple.

5 years is usually the limit, Have it load tested i'm sure it will be in the weak zone(at best). Even if it's not you are on borrowed time.

I checked the battery. The little sticker says 12/18. So just two years old.

When checking out the battery, I noticed the negative cable could be moved easily by hand on the terminal. So I tightened it up. We'll see if that helps.

Yup; tightening up the ground cable clamp around the battery post seems to have fixed it. We're back to normal now. Cheap and easy fix!
