Do you have the "wild vents"? I suspect you've got a big vacuum leak somewhere.

I do have wild vents. I will try fixing that and hopefully it helps.

Smoke machine will be very helpful in tracking down the leaks. A homemade one can be constructed for minimal cost. I suspect fixing the vacuum leak will alleviate much or all of the predetonation. These trucks have no knock retard ability, so be careful to stay out of the detonation at all costs until this is fixed. Otherwise you might end up with a hole in a piston

Also, plenum can be tested with a vacuum gauge. Spelunkard has a good video on YouTube detailing the procedure.

I ended up fixing the vacuum leak, the pinging is still there, I noticed that my coolant was low, i filled it up and it is still low. It is not burning in the exhaust, no coolant in the oil, and I cant find where the leak is exactly coming from.

I just did a compression check, all cylinder are good, I Took some of the motor apart and located the coolant leak at the front of the intake

Ok good. Still not found the cause of the predetonation yet?

I have not, I will change the intake manifold gaskets since that is where the coolant leak, and change the plenum while I am at it, Hopefully its one of those two and not another problem.

Did the pinging just recently start? Or has it existed throughout your ownership of the truck?
