That's pretty weird, I wonder why there are so many wires going into one spot where they come out as just a few in the rear. I don't think anything comes out of that wiring harness before it gets to the spare tire in the rear.

I wonder if I might find one of those connections on a truck at a salvage yard or something, and pull the wiring from the connector all the way to the back and use that. I'd for sure rather do something like that rather than splice and tap into a wire, but I suppose if I can't find one then I'll have to do that.

I'd think that you should be able to. I once found a factory trailer hitch on a 2nd gen Dodge Ram truck in the salvage yard and picked it up to replace the rusted one that was on my truck. I also grabbed the 7 pin trailer connector and its harness that connects just behind the left rear bumper area on the frame.

I did already buy a 7 pin connector, but a factory connector would just make my heart shine. I'll go have a look around a few of my scrapyards for some wiring harnesses and the connector.

In the meantime, would anybody here happen to have an extra connector or harness laying around on a parts truck that they would be willing to part with? Any theoretical such person would have a handsome reward offered for their kindness...

Even though its long, it can be easily rolled up and put in an 8"x11" envelope...

You think so? I thought the connectors would make it to bulky

Bulky, yes, a bit, but it would still ship via USPS just fine in a padded 8"x11" envelope. If there is concern over the connectors being damaged in shipping, pad them a bit more with bubble wrap and add some shipping peanuts to the envelope for good measure.

Can you post a picture of the whole thing, and especially the front connector and the wires at the back? If it satisfies me, I'll buy it from you. PM me if you'd be interested in selling it to me!

Can't get a pic of the whole thing unless it's circled up. I have my own little junkyard. Does yours have 2 connectors or just the one on the can mount behind the front left tire?
