My 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4

My lights are off my turn signals flash fast and when I turn my lights on my turn signals are solid but still work dose anyone have any ideas
I forgot to say it has 79,486 miles its been barn keep I dont know the problem but the truck mean a lot Thanks

 

I would look at the smart switch. This controls your turn signals, high and low beam headlights as well as the high beam flash. I'd get a used one from the junk yard, especially from a truck that has been hit in the side as it was driving when wrecked. Swap this in. It isn't too bad to do. If the problem goes away, buy a new one. I haven't bought one in years but it was around $60 then. You just take the steering column cover off, unplug and unbolt the old switch and put it all back together. You do NOT have to pull the steering wheel. If that doesn't fix it, you have a short somewhere. I'd do the easy fix first.

 

Respectfully disagree, that's not the "easy fix". Whenever lights come on when they shouldn't it screams "ground problem".

Do front and rear turn signals come on with the lights ?
Do turn signals work on all 4 corners ?
Do the dash turn indicators have a faint light when marker/headlights lights are turned on ?
What happens when the emergency flashers are turned on ?
Are the brake lights at full brightness without turn signals on ?
Do the brake lights appear comparatively less bright when flashing ?
