I got approval to put a new engine in my truck, i will be looking for a 408 Stroker (upwards of 420 HP) and I will be looking for at an APS tranny. I figure 179,000 miles on my truck its time to spruce it up, but when i get started I will probably get new fiberglass hood and the works. Have to think it all out but Im thinking with my nursing schedule, will be torn down in garage for at least a yr and a half. Would love to build it myself but If anyone has any good sites that has motors, send them my way.

 

awesome guys.... the wife got me a bunch of sabres stuff and craftsman tools...what more can a guy ask for right? oooooo my grandpa ordered me a neon dodge bar sighn... he said its on back order .. its read and it is the dodge ram with the horns emblem.. cant wait to get it..just need to build a bar to put it in!

My wife got me a MSD BTM and an Auto Meter Ultra Lite D-Pic (with my help ) We hoped my Edelbrock alum heads would come back from the machine shop so she could put them under the tree but they wont be ready till this week I got approval for the 408 2 months ago so parts are starting to flow and I told her that my new motor is my Christmas present. Should be in the 440-470hp range NA with about 700hp blown.

700 HP blown, thats gonna be in your Indy right? I was afraid to look at the 500 HP + motors because I really don't know what components on my truck can handle that kind of power, tranny is definately not going to handle it. Would love to build it myself but weighing time that I have, may not be possible.

 

Yes that will be in my Indy, should see around 500rwhp when Im done. Ive got double trans coolers out front with an oversized pan, synthetics and transgo stageIII race shift kit and 2800stall tc. My trans guy (Procharger distributor up here) says my trans should be fine (w/blower) not sure with the built motor and more boost though. I may just drop the trans off to him after I get the motor out and have him set it up for diesel specs to be safe.
