Default Gearing

I’m sure this question has been asked before so steer me where I need to go. I’m trying to figure out what rear end I need to get better mileage on the freeway for commuting and pull a 3000# camp trailer when necessary. I’m sure I will have to trade something for something. 2001 1500 5.9 with 3.21’s. It moves out quick and tows the trailer well now but, man, the mileage...even being a 2wd. Thanks!

3.55s or 3.92 but you will lose non towing mileage

3.21 gearing are pretty anemic for towing. What size tires are you running on your truck? Also, is your transmission manual or automatic?
