Grab the FSM from here. Page 5-28 talks about "grounding the diagnostic connector" to get the ABS light to flash but I think they talk about the service connector near the ABS module which is different from the data link connector. Why make it easy ..... Anywho the connector has only a single black wire so you're remembering it right.
