Default 1998.5 Dodge Ram 3500 - 24 Valve w/NV4500 - Value?

Good Morning;
I am looking at a: 1998.5 Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 with the 24 Valve Engine and a NV4500HD manual transmission - DANA 60 front differential and a DANA 80, 4.10 gear ratio, Anti-Spin, Rear Differential.
It has 221,000 miles on it. Seems to have been taken care of/maintained from the pictures, not a show truck, it is a base model..... no power windows, power locks or power mirrors. No carpet and no headliner. Paint is faded pretty bad as well but no rust. It DOES have A/C, Cruise Control, seats are NOT Torn nor Original and in decent shape but dirty.
I do not know if the engine block had a "53" stamp on it.

Oh.. and while it is running there is a Check Engine Light shining Steady in the dash gauges,
*What might that Check Engine Light mean even with the engine running steady/well?

***What would be a reasonable/fair purchase price for this rig?

Thank You

My area that's a $3,000 truck at best. If it was mechanically sound and ran good I would pay that, anything over that and in my area you are overpaying.

Only $3,000? - with the 24 valve diesel engine and the HD NV4500 manual five speed transmission?

I was thinking somewhere around 2 times to 4 times your amount of $3,000.00.

Yep it largely depends on your location. I bought a 2001 and setup just needed a bed and rockers for $800 running and driving

Here in S.W. Indiana, that's a $6,000-15,000 truck easy. As for the CEL, I don't know if 1998 is one of the years the key dance doesn't work on. Give it a try. It will either work or not.

If I had your general location I could do a quick marketplace search and find a few of those 3K 4x4 Cummins trucks you are talking about but I am willing to bet they have a dissapeared now, just like those one of a kind 2nd gen doors you had that had the factory tow rating on the door sticker.
