Nv3500 issue

1998 Dodge Ram 1500 nv3500 just put a rebuilt transmission in it’s in gear but false neutral on the shifter

Not sure what we can do. The transfer case in neutral? Or is it 2wd. Better get on the horn with the rebuilder.
