i have a 96 ram with a 360 in it, do you think a turbocharger from a 5.9 cummins turbo diesel engine would work on my truck? of course everything would have to be custom made, but how cool would that be. Would this be reasonably possible, or should i just get a supercharger?

 

I think you would be better off with a supercharger or a turbo thats made for it. seams like a big pain in the *** to do all that custom mods.

 

Arnt the turbos build for Diesel's made more for torque then HP? Or am I wrong on this?

 

No, the turbo on a diesel is designed specificaly to produce max "or close to max" boost at a very low rpms.....aka you either wouldnt not have the pressure to power it "gas engines have a lower output on exhaust gasses then diesel" or you would be making an incredible amount of boost at 5K......the simple answer is that it could be done but it would never run well.....Buy a supercharger if you are looking for loasds of hp....but remember its a 5000lb+ truck ...not a lotus

 

I know a guy with a first gen lightning that made his own turbo set up and that truck came stock N/A. I think it would be pretty cool I dont know if I would use the turbo from a diesel but the cummins intercooler would probably fit perfectly on theese trucks.
