Default ABS Light has come on (With odd effects accompanied)

2001. 1500. 4x4
5.2 mag. 5 speed
202k miles

This afternoon when I started up my truck I noticed the ABS light was on didn't think anything of it figured I'll look into it later. After getting to third gear and coming to a stop at a light when I pushed in my clutch to start to downshift process my truck platter down and died. I noticed on my RPM Gauge before it died that it drops smooth for about five hundred RPMs before sharply falling to about the 200rpm line before trying to putter back up but ultimately die. Keep in mind there is no issue when accelerating and shifting only when I'm at a higher RPM running mid gear to pushing in the clutch and letting it fall in RPMs does it want to die. After it dies I can turn the key and it fires up and runs like normal till I come to the next stop light and it wants to die as soon as I push in the clutch again. Also in accompaniment with all this is my RPM gauge is working fine BUT my speedometer does not move at all. I got home and disconnected the battery for a half hour before trying to take it back onto the road but only found to have the same issue.
Any and all help leading to a solution and fixing my daily driver would be greatly appreciated.
thank you very much for your time and advice

Probably speed sensor. When mine went out, both ABS and BRAKE lights were on though. But it acted the same way. Kept dying and wouldn't run. I don't know why. Have you checked the code?

If the truck is rear wheel ABS then it has only the rear axle speed sensor to drive the speedometer. Can't really come up with why that would affect the engine, but the post above had a similar experience. Typically the sensor fails open but maybe if it creates a short it causes weird issues. Just disconnect the sensor at the rear axle and see if it fixes the engine dying.
