Currently I’m running 31’s but I plan to go up to 38’s because I still want it to have good street performance and I don’t want my eardrums blown out on the highway. I live in Florida, only about 10 minutes from Ocala National forest which has mud and sugar sand, my plan was to just get an LSD because I don’t hit mud often unless it rains because the forest has incredible natural drainage (literally had a week of rain from a hurricane, went out after 2 days of sun and it was bone dry except for one area near an existing pond) so I figured an LSD would be fine for sugar sand. I’m not ready to buy anything yet and I don’t want to waste your time ordering parts, but I’ll gladly take parts recommendations. (I also have a little goal of make about 400hp because I want to have a faster car than my friends Audi Q7 340hp rn) dang that was a lot for than I planned to type. Quite literally the only reason I even want a cam is for the choppy sound but I’m perfectly fine with just an intake, exhaust and better fueling for now. Anyways, I’m pretty open to advice!

I’ve seen them fixed and I wouldn’t mind it, I just want the 4150 style flange so I can get a DBW throttle, I have a friend with a Holley terminator ecu that he offered to me for around $200

I would put 2500 axles under it and go with at least 4.88 gears but I would go 5.13. To make your truck faster you would need more then 400hp due to your truck being heavier

You may be including the 2500 axles, but believe it or not, his Audi Q7 is a fair bit heavier than my Ram, his Q7 weighs in around 5,400lbs, while the Rams are weighed at a max of 4,930lbs.
5.13 gears wouldn’t be too big for highway use? At the end of the day the truck should still be a good combo of on road and off road, I don’t know what I have right now, I assumed 3.83 but that seems bigger than the truck performs for.

@MoparFanatic21 you’ve had more experience than me with the 545rfe, what do you think of it? The route of this whole swap is I want a 5 speed trans, I’m fine with a manual but I started thinking about a 545rfe which the Holley could control easily with some adapting but I see mixed statements on their reliability, while the NV4500 I know would be tough enough for anything I’m gonna do, but because my truck is an automatic it would take more than just the trans to swap in. Thoughts on that side?

For offroad or towing I hate it. The shift points are too long out. If you want an auto I recommend the ZF 8spd. Way better. I never broke a 545rfe, just hate the shift points. Especially under WOT it sucks.

Most likely you have 3.55s but they offered 3.93 and 4.10s I beige even 3.73s but not sure on that (would have to look at my books). Wouldn't be bad on road and 5.13s would give you a little more torque to. 4.88s would be good but I wouldn't tow anything with 4.88s and 38s. Really though it depends on what transmission you go with. NV4500 or ZF 8spd you could go with 4.56s (ZF) or 4.88 (4500) if you want.

Didn't know that I don't mess with foreign cars lol

I will look into gearing then too, I would like a ZF but I don’t know how it would bolt to a magnum, I assumed it would considering Hemis use the same bell pattern as magnums.
i don’t mess with euros but I grew up around Hondas and that’s the extent of my foreigns

so it sounds to me like if I threw a line pressure upgrade on and used the Holley to tune shift points it would be good?
What I would like to do is either do an NV4500 or get a full electronic automatic and run paddle shifters through the Holley, everything says it’ll work it’s just a matter of which trans makes the most sense for my build

Auto I would do the ZF 8spd my 3rd gen is getting the 8spd instead of the 545. Manual I would do either the G56 or NV4500. That would probably make the 545 good but then you'll have to use 5.13 gears which would hurt fuel economy. The 8spd is the best of both worlds.
