Default Transmission delay

Hello,
I got a 98 dodge 2500 automatic with an Allison’s transmission in it. The person I got it from I don’t think took great care of it. Truck runs well,no codes or anything but when driving there is a shift delay. It seems to shift first and second well then a delay to third/4th.
does anyone know what that could be?

I highly doubt there’s an Allison transmission in there…

to me sounds like either it’s in need of fluid/filter change, or tv cable adjustment

Yeah.....if there's an Ally in there you've got a standalone controller and everything is aftermarket and was done by a previous owner

If it is an Allison and a 4spd there would be no controller, they were fully hydraulic, and about every school bus built in the 90s and early 20s had an International DT444/DT466 or 5.9 Cummins backed by an Allison AT or MT series trans, so the possibility someone swapped one into a Dodge is quite possible, however a major downgrade

You could put in an Allison but it wasn't from the factory.
