What options are available to stick in an 2001 without a whole lot of problems. Looking for a big upgrade from the 5.2.
Thank you in advance.

Swap the 5.2 with a 5.9 magnum. It will bolt right up and you can keep your existing transmission.

I have not heard a lot of oh my gosh reviews about the 5.9, more like folks getting rid of them. I'm not looking for the extreme at 48, but if I wanted to put my foot in it, it would be there. Or are you talking about stroking the 360?

There are numerous kits available to stroke the 5.9 engine to 408, however, that will require PCM tuning changes that may or may not be in your budget. Swapping to a stock 5.9 magnum engine over the 5.2 will provide quite a bit more power. You can add to that power by providing added bolt-on upgrades, like cylinder heads (EQ, Edelbrock, etc), camshaft (Comp Cams, etc.), headers, double roller timing chain, etc, etc... Just do some basic searches about the 5.9 engine and available/possible performance modifications. You will find quite a few things that can easily be done to make the 5.9 engine perform quite well.
