Default Passenger window fell in door!

Was rolling the passenger side window down in my 1997 1500 today, and the window fell into the door, all the way to the bottom. I’ve never done any work on windows before, so I need some advice on what to do. They are power windows if that makes any difference.

Need to take the panel off and see why it fell. There are two bolts that hold it into the track

Remove the passenger side door panel and have a look. I'd suspect that the window regulator might have broken.

It’ll likely be Monday before I can check it out, because it’s supposed to rain here all day tomorrow. Had to drive it home three hours with the window down today, and it was dark when I arrived. Was definitely awake from the chilly temperature in the truck!

Please be sure to cover up the hole where the window was to keep the coming rains out of your truck.

I’ve got a tarp over it and the door closed around the tarp.

You can get big rolls of stretch wrap at home improvement stores. Wrap it around the door where the window is supposed to be. This will sort of keep the rain out and you still have a wee bit of visibility out the window. It looks cheesy and you'll have to drive in a squeaky clean manner as it will draw the eye of every police officer around.

It was the regulator. Couldn’t find one locally, so I had to order one, and it took over a week to arrive. Got everything back together and it’s working great. YouTube video was valuable for this repair.

I've never been to proud to admit to attending the U of Y. (University of Youtube.) Even things I've done numerous times but haven't for a while. I did a timing set on a GMC with a 350 engine. I'd never done one with the serpentine system though and it hid one bolt that is normally out in the open. It saved me a bunch of aggravation.

YouTube has also saved me a bunch of aggravation. I’ve used it a bunch of times, and will again.
