Default Pipe Sizes

Hey guys, i searched the forum and couldn't find the exact answer i was looking for.

I Want to know the size of the in and out pipes of the stock muffler, for a 1999 5.9l 1500, and i also wanna know what Size In/out i should get for the Flowmaster 40 series...and also if i should get a dual out, or just dump it before the axle. Any help would be appreciated

Default RE: Pipe Sizes

I think the stock sizes are 2.5" in & out.

if you have a 2x4 you could go with dual 2.5" outs and you should be ok, you will loose a little low end torque but the top end will rock. if you have a 4x4 i'd go with the dual 2.5's knecked down to 2.25" right out of the muffler. this will be slightly larger in flow area than a single 3" out
