Default Exhaust advice

I’ve posted before, I have a 99 1500 2wd 5spd it’s my work/farm truck that only gets used occasionally but it sounds like hammered hell. The exhaust on it is a better representation of Swiss cheese than anything else. What are the best bolt on options out there. Local shops typically get $350-500 for a full “custom” system not looking to shell out that kinda dough I want something that will have a good sound but be mild. I also have to mention my cats were removed by the previous owner due to them being clogged any insight is appreciated

When I re-did my exhaust system from the catalytic converter on back, I went with a 3" single exhaust system. I used shorty coated JBA headers and re-used the 2" exhaust pipes that came off the headers/manifolds that went into the front of the cat. The parts I used are listed below:

Magnaflow Converter - 99047HM (dual 2" inlets, 3" outlet, front O2 sensor port)
Dynomax UltraFlo Welded Muffler - 17233
3 - 3" band clamps (back of cat, front + rear of muffler)
1 - bung for rear O2 sensor welded onto the 3" straight exhaust pipe coming off the back of the catalytic converter
3" muffler pipe (supplied by a competent muffler shop)

I took my parts over to a local muffler shop and they welded the new catalytic converter onto the existing 2" front pipes, added a piece of 3" straight pipe between the back of the catalytic converter and into the front of the muffler (also drilled a hole into the 3" straight pipe behind the cat and welded the bung for the rear O2 sensor). The last part was bending up a custom 3" tailpipe off the back of the muffler existing to the stock location behind the back wheel.

The system is quiet and powerful. I'm very happy with it. It has a nice mild rumble sound when RPMs get above 2,000. Lastly, I did use new NTK O2 sensors during the install of the system.

There used to be guy on ebay that offered mandrel bent exhaust that was fairly priced. You could buy it with or without the muffler.

I don't recall, as I purchased the parts on the list myself via mail order through various sales outlets and took them to a local muffler shop for installation. All this work was done many years ago.
