Valve body interchange?
So I’m rebuilding my transmission in my 46re and I’m debating on changing out the valve body I guess becuase I’d rather be 100 % sure that my problem is gone but most of the valve body’s that I’m finding either don’t have the 8pin female connector or have the later model plastic transducer sensor what should I do? Is it possible to get the one with the black plastic transducer and change it out with the one I have? I have the early model gold sensor
I had my 1996 46RE transmission rebuilt a few years ago and the existing valve body was re-used, however, it was thoroughly cleaned before re-use and a Transgo shift kit was installed along with the Sonnax SureCure kit (https://www.sonnax.com/parts/4466-the-sure-cure-kit). The electronic parts were replaced as well, Please note that you can only use the electronics replacement parts for a 96-97 46RE, as later year parts won't be compatible with your PCM.

My transmission rebuilder installed the later model year electronics onto my valve body. Once I installed the transmission and drove it for less than 10 minutes, the trans temp light came on along with the overdrive light coming on to keep the transmission from going into overdrive. After consulting with folks on this forum, it was determined that the late model electronics caused the issue. Swapped in the correct electronics for the '96 46RE and it solved the issue.
In my humble opinion, its best to clean and rebuild what you have, in addition to at least installing the Sonnaz SureCure kit.
