I’ve got a new jvc radio to put in my 2nd gen to replace the original radio that it came stock with. I’m needing help connecting the radio side harness to the metra harness i got for my truck to essentially make this new radio plug and play so I don’t have to splice wires
on the existing harness in my truck. I’ve included a pic of the two harnesses I have that I need to connect together properly. Some have different color wires and it’s a little confusing to me.
The power side for the radio harness has a solid black, solid red, orange and white, solid blue, and solid yellow wire. The power side for the vehicle harness has a solid yellow, solid red, solid orange, gray and black, and a white and black wire.
The speaker side for the radio harness has two green wires, two white wires, two gray wires, and two purple wires. The speaker side for the vehicle harness has one blue wire, two green wires, two purple wires, one white wire, and one gray wire.
Does your truck have the amps on the speakers? If so it's not plug and play. On the metra harness package should be the wiring for each wire going on the vehicle side. You need to find the wiring for the radio to match them up.
OK, it's been a bit.. Did you ever get this settled and working correctly?
I would like to install a 7" touch screen head unit in my 2001 Dakota. Harness "should be" the same for the full size Ram (?)
My Dakota is the base model, reg cab, short bed. So only have 2speakers in the lower/fwd doors. "RIGHT AT YOUR FEET!!" AWESOME!
And wondering if the stereo is wired through another sister/sub system like the Lighting "TIMER" (which is REALLY GOOFY!)
The op's last post was the last time he was here. Do you have the amp on the speakers (infinity system)? Either way you can wire it but you will be bypassing the amp and wiring the speakers direct. This is assuming the head unit has an amp.
