Ball Joints/ Front coil springs
Hey gang. Recently did a partial front end rebuild on my 98 1500 RWD. Rotors, bearings, calipers, tie rods, pitman arm and drag link. I still need to do the sway bar end links, upper/lower ball joints and shocks. I need some advice before moving forward.
I'm going to pay someone to do the ball joints. It looks above my skill level and tool availability. My question is; it looks like to do the ball joints, you'd take off everything holding the coil spring in. Is that the case? Would it be worthwhile to get some springs and ask my mechanic to throw them in since he's going to do the ball joints anyway?

I don't believe that the front spring has to be removed to remove/replace your ball joints as long as the front shocks stay in-place. As long as you have the patience and proper tools to do the job, it's pretty straight-forward. Check out some videos on YouTube to gain a comfort level with the job and go for it.
