How To Change TCC?
2001 1500 5.2L is indicating code P1740. I've decided to replace the TCC myself. I need:
1) Instructions or general idea on how to replace the TCC myself?
2) What's a good replacement TCC to put in?

Did you ever get the information you requested? I'm looking at the same job. I need to know what I'm getting into. I'm getting a P0740 code, Torque Converter Clutch Circuit. By this I'm guessing my TCC is having problems locking at high speeds. Does anybody else have input on this? And can someone answer zzyzx's questions for the both of us?
Changing the torque converter involves droping the whole trans. You could try if yourself if you want. Also read the "merry christmas" thread at the top, it has a factory service manual in it that should help.
CHANGING THE TCC. IS PRETY SIMPLE. IT IS BOLTED TO THE VALVE BODY,CAN'T REMEMBER IF THE HAVE TO DROP THE VALVE BODY THOUGH.BUT IF YOUR GETTING A P-1740 CODE THE T. CONVERTER IS PROBABLY SHOT.
Before you replace the TCC take a look at this Technical Service Bulletin. That could be the problem. My '01 Ram is throwing the P1740 code right now. But the TC and tranny both seem to be performing fine. So I'm hoping it's just the plate in the TSB above. That would be a lot cheaper than replacing the whole TCC, especially if it's not really needed.
