1997 dodge ram 1500 5.9l
i gotta truck recently. it uses like 3 quarts within 4 days. the valve covers are filled with oil gunk. i looked down the throttle body and there wasnt much oil down in it just a few drops from what i can see anyway. on the bottom of the engine, its greased and hardened up, but thats coming from the trans pan. i just ordered valve cover gasket, new pcv valve and new sparkplugs for the misfires. when its running it doesnt leak and i turn it off theres no leaks dripping onto the driveway. what could my oil be going? last thing i want to worry about is the headgaskets or something in the block. (will take a picture of valve covers in the morning, but im sure you know what i mean, it’s coated the seems of the valve covers and near the exhaust manifolds
pull the radiator cap and see what it looks like, like mentioned, if its not leaking its burning it, or pushing it into the radiator. 3qts that fast its hard to even imaging burning it without having a cylinder fouled out, I would document well and post pictures when you change the plugs, we can probably tell there if or what cylinders are bad.
