2" Leveling Kit for an Off-Road 1500
I am looking to get a front end leveling kit for my 2001 off road 1500. The thing is, I have heard many different accounts about the parts you may or may not need to complete this lift. I have heard people say they just threw in the spacers, reassembled the front end and they were good to go. I have also heard others that have installed a leveling kit on an off road ram say that they had to replace the trac bar, shocks, and lower control arms becasue the truck wouldn't drive correctly with the stock parts after the lift. Accounts of axels being moved back toward the rear of the truck and also toward the drivers side are the most common. My question is, does anyone have a definate answer as to what is needed when a 2" spacer is added to the front of a ram with the off road package. The parts I was thinking of going with are below, please let me know your thoughts on this. The one is of the spacers and the other is of a trac bar relocation bracket.

I HAVE AN OFF-ROAD AND I HAVENT DONE IT YET BUT MY NEIGHBOR HAS ONE TOO AND HE USED THE SPACER AND HE SAID EVERYTHING IS FINE ON HIS....THAT IS JUST MY OPINION AND I WILL GO AHEAD AND TRY THE SPACERS TOO SINCE HE HAS HAD NO PROBLEMS!!!!!
i plan on the spacers or if i can score some 2500 springs... prolly the spacers...easier to install and remove.... ive heard the same stuff on our offroad sports... but the one thing that i realized..is that ,, when you want to go any bigger then that then youll have to make adjustments on the front end... even i want to go with the springs,,, instead of 2" its 2.5" and just that half inch is too much and ill need a new trac bar etc etc etc.
Teacher,
You can see in my sig what's under my front end, I know mine is not a Sport but I do not know if it is an off-road or just a plain Larimie SLT. I know I don't have that funky body moulding on my tailgate like Socha does, can any identify my model by my gallery pics?
Anyway, it does have Rancho shocks although I don't know if they are longer than stock, but I do not have that trac bar relocator under there. I know this does not really give you a difinitive answer but maybe some help.

hey there i just installed the exact kit your lookin at i got mine off ebay for 68 bucks. they do work just fine and yes they are a full 2 inchs.it would be nice if they were like 1.5 inches becuse they are a tad bit too much. my front actually sets a hint nose high i think.yes they do move the front axle back a bit cause my new bfgs 285-70-17 rub on the mudflaps in the front when i turn now.it actually improved the ride a bit becuse of the weight shift but that helped on the ice a bit too.yes a guy will need longer shocks also if you plan on off-roading it mine bottom on the shocks now also.but as far as the steering goes it seems to be fine for now.ill kep ya posted if i notice any probs with mine..
Did you notice any movement of the axle toward the driver's side of the truck after installing the spacers?

From what I read on the site, the bracket I attached at the beginning of this thread would be sufficient for the trac bar on a 2" lift. I guess you could get a new trac bar, but I think the bracket would work for my application since the only off roading I really do is in my back yard or getting firewood. Plus, the bracket is only $19, so it can't hurt to try it first and see how it works before buying a whole new bar.
