Well, bolt holes are re-tapped, everything is in place, fired it up and the noise is gone.

Im not sure i followed fully, you found a piece of bellhousing inside the the bell housing? but the support braces are what was broken?

Negative, upon reinstallation i cross threaded the bolt holes that mount the support brackets to the bellhousing.
Have no clue exactly where this broken piece came from, except it is bellhousing material....
