Default Ignition coil help

00’ 1500 5.9

I’ve already diagnosed the issue as the ignition coil. The main problem I’m having is that whenever it rains or there’s very dense fog, the truck will crank but there’s no spark. When that happens, I have to pop the hood and dry off the ignition coil with a rag or my sleeve, and then it will start.

I replaced the ignition coil, distributor cap, spark plug wires, and ignition coil wire around June of 2023. The issue first started about a year ago, but it only happened once, so I didn’t think much of it at the time. Now that it’s been raining more consistently, the problem has been happening regularly.

I’m wondering if anyone else has had this issue and found a solution. Is there a known fix, a cover or shield that helps with moisture, or is this just something I’ll have to wipe it down every time there’s moisture in the air?

Try spraying some WD-40 around the terminal for the coil wire. If it continues have a look at it at night so you can where it's arcing. What spark plugs are you using?
