Hi, i am going to be doing a complete flush and fill the transmission on my dodge. I am just wondering if anyone knows how much atf the system holds when it is dry? My chiltons manual says 9-16.3 depending on model. Does anyone know how much atf a 2001 sport holds? It is a 5.9L engine, not sure what tranny comes in the sport

 

well it depends if its a 4X4 or not...

 

it should be the 46RE and for a flush it should take 19~20 pts... download the service manual located at the top of the 2nd gen forum (merry christmas thread)

when you do the flush, can you take pics and post it for others to see. also, I'd use synthetic in it. more expensive but way cheeper than a rebuild.


per the shop manual, all of the trannys take the same amount of tranny fluid.

what manual is the merry christmas one? it says put atf+4 in the t case and they haynes says use dexron III in the case. hmmm now im confused

 

the atf 4 is synthetic and you can use it in there. I'd go with the Red-line stuff...
